I wouldn't consider it Heavy Metal but it certainly laid the ground work for "Heavy" and Aggressive music to come afterwards. The entire solo starts with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant riffing off each other in a slow built, until it reaches the climax of the main solo that I reproduced here.
