SKIING STATS: Run Name: No Names Location: Steamboat Rating:♦EX♦ (Extreme Double Black Diamond) My Personal Rating Opinion: ♦-♦EX♦ (Somewhere between a single black and extreme double black diamond) Lift Taken: Morningside Maximum Pitch: 38 degrees Run Aspect: North Run Type: Glades DATE OF RECORDING: February 9, 2025 SNOW CONDITIONS: Powder & Chop DESCRIPTION: No Names is one of 3 gated areas, alongside North St. Pats and East Face, found off the true summit of Mt. Werner. From the Morningside lift, it's a roughly 5 minute hike to the top of this peak. Just know that from the lift, it looks SO much more intimidating and steep than it actually is. This is genuinely one of the easiest hikes in all of Colorado; it's really more of a walk. Now the terrain off the top is interesting because you would think that hiking automatically means more vert. than not hiking. HOWEVER, because the first chance catwalk starts higher up, you actually get less vert. hiking up to the summit of Mt. Werner than you get skiing the Chutes or Christmas Tree Bowl or The Gully. I can't speak for the other two gates, however, the terrain I accessed from No Names was really fun, but not that interesting compared to the non-hike-to terrain; it really just felt like steep tree skiing. Now I have heard that if you cut more skier's right towards the North St. Pats gate, you can end up in some seriously technical terrain. However, I didn't know this going in and so I just went straight from the gate's entrance and the terrain was a bit lackluster. That being said, the snow was exceptional the skiing was still very fun. Overall, I had a really good time on No Names; I just wish I knew to cut more skier's right at the start more towards North St. Pats. Also, PLEASE make sure to take the first chance catwalk to exit the zone rather than skiing through the trees to last chance; it may look tempting, but it's NOT worth it at all.
