In this exciting episode of Men’s Locker Room, we sit down with the rising star in commentary and content, Tanay Tiwari. With our host Sadhika Sehgal, he talks about breaking into the world of commentary in cricket, the challenges there are and how much money they get paid! Ever thought if the commentary is scripted or aims to influence you in a certain way? Tanay sheds light on the influence of commentators on our views and debunks the whole glamorous world of cricket commentary. Interestingly, he also talks about how much commentators like Jatin Sapru and Harsha Bhogle get paid! And he also talks about how ex- cricketers like Harbhajan Singh or Suresh Raina get paid more as compared to others? When Tanay talks about players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and M.S. Dhoni and his favourite commentators, his expressions say how much he admires the game, the hard work that goes in and the emotions that are involved throughout. Tanay also emphasized upon how when we watch cricket, we often judge the players quickly and become harsh critics along which we forget that beyond the screens, they are human as well. He took the example of the criticism thatHardik Pandya went through and appreciated his will for not giving up and staying dedicated. While talking about his journey, Tanay mentioned how he started back in 2016 with internships, writing articles and making videos, gradually climbing the ladder of success. When asked about IPL, he answers the infamous questions like "Why can't RCB win?" and pointed out how IPL is an amazing platform for young players throughout the world for the opportunity they get to display their raw talent and getting paid to do so! When asked which player he shares the best memories with, he couldn't name just one! He mentioned how a lot of them like Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are candid on the field as compared to the common perception of cricketers having an attitude, in fact he deemed it be a superficial judgement! Overall, Tanay articulately explained the complications around commentary and the emotions around the game, addressing our common misconceptions while appreciating the people in his field for their level of knowledge and skillset. With plenty of interesting stories about the sport cricketers and commentators we all know of, this enticing yet insightful video is not to be missed! Subscribe and stay tuned to MensXP.
