In this Stotra written in 29 verses Srimadacharya teaches us, in great detail, how to visualize the form of Lord Siva by meditates upon it from the head to the regions below in verses 1 to 28. In verse 29 the Ācārya meditates upon the Supreme Impersonal Brahman. The text of each verse that appears on the screen is based on Volume 17 of the Works of Sri Shankaracharya published by Sri Vani Vilas Press of Srirangam in 1909. The same Stotra was published by Sri TKB Aiyar with a rare and unpublished Sanskrit commentary on it by Ramakrishna Suri in the Journal of Sri Sankaragurukulam between 1939 and 1945. The readings found in this version differ in many places from those found in the Memorial Edition. These readings have been given in the foot notes below the text of each verse as pāṭhāntara. The Tamil Smarta takes you on a journey of visualization meditation and also teaches you the proper pronunciation of the Śiva-keśādi-pādānta-varṇana-stotra in Sanskrit. Sit straight, and either close your eyes to meditate upon the Lord’s form as you hear the chanting of the ślokas, or keep your eyes open to go through the Sanskrit text of each śloka as the vocal goes on. And let The Guru, Śrī Śaṅkara Bhagavatpāda, guide you in contemplating on the Divya-maṅgala-rūpam of Bhagavan as you hear and/or chant each of the śloka. This 16-minute guided meditation of Stotra-paṭhana (chanting) is a highly recommended practice for everyone. No initiation or other qualification is required for this unlike the study of the Brahmasūtra-bhāṣya or the Upanishad-bhāṣya.
