Stockbridge Edinburgh Walking Tour 4K | From Deanhaugh Street to Circus Lane

Exploring Stockbridge’s mix of Georgian terraces, local shops, and cobbled backstreets, ending with a look down the always-photographed Circus Lane. This walk moves through Stockbridge, a neighbourhood known for its village-like feel and distinctive mix of Georgian streets, independent shops, and quieter corners. Beginning on Deanhaugh Street, the route crosses the Stock Bridge itself before heading along Hamilton Place and past the Old Market Arch, a reminder of the area’s long connection to local trade. From there, it continues onto St Stephen Street and North West Circus Place, where the architecture becomes more uniform and classically New Town. The walk then winds through India Street and into Circus Gardens, before arriving at one of Edinburgh’s most recognisable lanes: Circus Lane, with its cobblestones, mews houses, and church views. It finishes near St Vincent Street and Ashton Hall, rounding out a route that shows why Stockbridge remains such a distinctive part of Edinburgh: close to the city centre, but with a character and pace of its own.
