BLACKOUT!!! It's the year 20XX and the world is about to fall victim... to darkness. On one seemingly ordinary day, something extraordinary happened. In the middle of a rain forest down in South America, a great earthquake unveiled a miracle to the world at large, the ancient remains of a lost civilization! The United Nations gathered the greatest minds from all over the world to study the new ruins, only to learn that such a task was impossible. Surrounding the ruins, and the temple at the center, was an electromagnetic field; it was capable of shutting down all modern equipment. After a year of failed investigations into the ruins, the temple, and the EMP field, the U.N. decided to formerly close the investigation. The ruins were renamed the "Lanfront Ruins" and the temple "The Temple of the Moon". For 3 years the Lanfront ruins were quiet... until a spike in the EMP field caused worry in world renowned genius, Dr. Light. Enlisting the help of reformed criminal, Dr. Wily, Dr. Light tasked Wily to investigate the ruins personally. For 3 weeks Wily went dark, the EMP field kept expanding; finally he popped back up... on every television in the world declaring all nations needed to surrender to his will in two weeks or the EMP would permanently engulf the world in a Blackout! This EMP field already claimed its first victim in innocent Roll, one of Dr. Light's Robot Masters and sister to world hero Mega Man. With the blackout, threatening to destroy all robots, shut down all electronics, and promote human suffering, it seemed the stakes were certainly high this time. Our hero travels to the Lanfront Ruins to to stop Wily, and destroy the source of the EMP field, before it's too late...
