This video gives a demonstration of 3D Buzz's new Cascading GUI Sheets (CGS) system, which is a custom language solution for building graphical user interfaces in Unity. By using a language which is derived from and very similar to CSS, you can style and construct UIs for your Unity games with greater control and with much greater ease! As a part of 3D Buzz's Unity MMO course, the entire creation of the CGS system will be taught from the ground up, as we will be using it throughout the development of our MMO, as well as for other gaming projects as well. Though the end goal of the video is to produce a user interface development solution for Unity, the focus of the videos in this set will be on the development of your own programming languages. This makes the series highly valuable to developers both within and outside of the game development world. We begin by demonstrating the creation and use of hand-written lexers and parsers, working our way up from there to the powerful language building tool ANTLR. This demo video walks through the concepts behind CGS, covering why it was developed and how it will be affected by by changing UI technologies in Unity's upcoming development. You'll also see a live demo of how it works and how it can be used to construct and style your UIs using a CSS-like workflow.
