The Impact of Academic Advising on Dual and Concurrent Enrollment Students: A NACADA-NACEP Collaborative Webinar The number of high school students enrolling in dual and concurrent enrollment courses continues to grow rapidly throughout the country – the National Student Clearinghouse reports that 1 in 4 Associate's and Bachelor’s Degree Earners in 2014-15 had completed at least one college course prior to matriculating to college. As institutions face the growing numbers of students participating in these programs, it is essential that academic advisors have a clear understanding of the range of dual and concurrent enrollment programs and how this trend is impacting students' trajectories through college. In this NACADA-NACEP collaboration, presenters provided information on concurrent enrollment programs across the United States and showcased specific examples of three programs that have been successful in building effective advising systems for high school students taking college courses. A panel of representatives from two-year and four-year colleges who have worked with dual and concurrent enrollment students discussed their programs and provided participants with information that academic advisors need to know in order to better serve dual and concurrent enrollment students on their campuses, as well as matriculated students who arrive on campus having completed dual and concurrent enrollment courses while in high school.
