Live view of Mayon Volcano from Daraga, Albay [Pi-Cam]. Why is it blurry? Even though our camera is focused, the thick ash and clouds in the air act like a foggy window, softening the details of the volcano. We are constantly adjusting our settings to try and cut through the weather. This camera provides a continuous monitoring view of the summit crater and southern slope. Unlike standard webcams, this system utilizes a specialized high-sensitivity sensor and precision optical glass to monitor the volcano 24/7. This camera is a fixed-lens custom model; the view is calibrated for cinematic clarity during the day and high-gain sensitivity at night. Visibility Guide: • White/Grey Screen: Indicates heavy cloud cover, rain, or fog obscuring the summit. • Black Screen: Indicates nighttime with no active crater glow. • Blurry/Pixelated: Please check your YouTube quality settings (Set to 1080p/4K). Welcome to MayonStream Lab! We bring you live views of Mayon Volcano, transitioning autonomously from cinematic daytime shots to spectacular crater glow monitoring at night. We stream in real‑time, capturing snapshots for science, culture, and the community. The system now adjusts ISO and Gain in real-time to prevent exposure "shocks" during twilight. We have also integrated Summit-Specific Telemetry, providing modeled weather data specifically for the crater elevation (2462m) rather than ground level. ------------------------------------------------ Technical Specifications: • Location: Daraga, Bicol, Philippines • Target: Mayon Volcano Summit (Elevation 2462m) • Camera System: Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB) • Sensor: Sony IMX415 Starvis (Back-illuminated CMOS for Night Vision) • Lens: Basler C11-1620-12M-P (12MP Professional Machine Vision Glass) • Aperture: f/2.0 (Fixed Wide Open for maximum light gathering) Software Stack: • Core: Custom 3-Layer Architecture (Camera Driver → AI Logic → FFMPEG Recorder) • Exposure: Smart Exposure V5.0 (Autonomous Gain/ISO Ramping) • Weather Data: Open-Meteo API (Physics-based modeling at 2462m elevation) • Day Profile: Cinematic Color Grading (Low Noise, High Contrast) • Night Profile: High-Sensitivity Surveillance (Uncapped Gain for low-light detection) ------------------------------------------------ Stream started February 7, 2026 by MayonStreamLab Projects.
