Marina Del Rey to Catalina in 22' Cape Dory sailboat. First time sailing, scared.

Sorry for the wind noise. The middle of the 6 hour passage the winds and seas were too heavy to film. 8 foot swells and 4 foot waves. This is our first sail after me taking an ASA 101 sailing course and being certified. Lol, and on a 22' sailboat with outboard motor to boot... Lessons learned how NOT to do this again. We had to leave our boat at Catalina and come home in the Catalina Express due to the next day's weather forecast. We will return in 5 days when the weather window is proper to retrieve our little boat, and sail it back to Marina Del Rey. Mary Beth and I are humbled by the power of the wind and seas, and our lives have changed due to this experience. Wish we could have captured the middle of the passage for you to see when it really scared us, mostly because we are old as sh++, and extreme newbies. The reward lied at the destination with wine and cheese, and the discussion of how we really did that, and why on our first passage. Now we have jack lines, an inflatable dinghy, and harnesses. The return trip was calm and easy, a total motor with 5 knots of breeze from dead ahead.
