Citizen Expands Real-Time Crime, Public Safety Alerts to Caddo Parish | Citizen

The Citizen safety app, which delivers real-time public safety alerts and live video, is now available in Caddo Parish. The app provides location-based notifications about crimes, fires, severe weather and other emergencies, often before first responders or news crews arrive. It also allows users to stream live video from incidents to help inform others in the community. Citizen launched in New York City in 2017 and has grown to more than 15 million users nationwide. The expansion to Caddo Parish is part of a rollout into eight new markets, including areas in Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and Texas. “Citizen saves lives in everyday ways,” said Mara Aguinis, who leads marketing for the company. “Whether it’s avoiding danger on your street or helping locate a missing child or pet, the app helps people stay safe and aware in their communities.” The app is free to download. A subscription-based version, Citizen Premium, includes added features such as access to live police and fire radio and customizable alert zones.
