The anatomical planes of the body

This video talks about the different anatomical planes you might run across when studying anatomy. There are 4 main different planes. The first one is a median plane, which runs directly in the middle of the body dividing it into left and right halves. The second is that sagittal plane, which runs in the same direction as a median plane, but anywhere along the body. Thus, a median plane is also a type of sagittal plane. The third plane is the frontal plane or also called the coronal plane. Imagine this plane like a mirror, it splits the body into anterior and posterior parts. The last plane is the transverse or horizontal plane. This plane is sometimes also called the axial or transaxial plane. This one is horizontal and divides the body into upper and lower halves.
