Stories of Hope is a programme established during the pandemic that provides interactive in-cell packs to prisoners, aiming to bring about transformational rehabilitation. During the pandemic, prisoners were locked in a cell for 23.5 hours a day, without any access to the chapel for worship & fellowship. Junction 42's response was to create these packs to be distributed to men and women in their cells with the vision of reaching every prison in the UK. Five years on, they have supplied over 400,000 Stories of Hope packs to prisons nationwide, distributing these resources in 100% of all prisons in Scotland and 86% of prisons in England. In this video, we sat down with Joanne O’Connor (Founder and Director of Junction 42), Wayne and Adam, to learn more about Stories of Hope and its impact on prisoners. Junction 42 exists to see the lives of offenders and their communities visibly transformed through support, empowerment, and opportunity. Their mission is to empower individuals to take control of their lives and become active contributors to their communities. The charity works in over 130 prisons and communities, supporting people through the difficult journey of custody and rehabilitation. In 2022, Benefact Trust awarded Junction 42 a £90,000 grant for their Stories of Hope project - an initiative that provides interactive in-cell packs to prisoners, aiming to bring about transformational rehabilitation.
