After Meco put the Star Wars theme to the disco beat and had a huge hit, it was expected that he would disco-fy other movie soundtracks and continued with "Encounters Of Every Kind" and a disco version of the theme from "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" that peaked at #25, The lower chart peak indicated that the concept was wearing thin, but Meco continued on. In 1978 he disco-fied the music from "The Wizard Of Oz" and it barely eked out a Top40 placement at #35. His "Empire Strikes Back" disco medley from 1980 brought him back to the Top 20 when it peaked at #18. A Christmas single called "What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb?)" was released in time for the holidays, but it had a dismal showing at #69 in late 1980. After this the mega-medleys were in vogue and the grand daddy of all mega medleys from the Stars On 45 was claiming the charts. He created his own mega-medley called "Pop Goes The Movies" (Part 1), sort of a Hooked On Classics type of mix that peaked at #35. His last pop hit was "Ewok Celebration", a faint echo of "Cantina Band" from 1983 "The Return Of The Jedi" soundtrack and it flopped, peaking at #60 telling me this mega medley thing had run its course.
