🌞 Light Requirements • Indoors: Bright, indirect light is best. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves. • Outdoors: Filtered light or partial to full shade. Ideal for shaded garden beds, containers, or under trees. 🌡️ Temperature & Humidity • Warm temperatures (70–85°F / 21–29°C) are ideal. • Humidity: Needs high humidity to thrive. If indoors, consider a humidifier or place the pot on a tray with water and pebbles. • Avoid cold: Caladiums are tropical and not frost-tolerant. Bring indoors when temps drop below 60°F (15°C). 💧 Watering • Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. • Water when the top inch of soil is dry. • Avoid letting the tubers sit in water to prevent rot. 🪴 Soil • Use a well-draining, rich soil—a mix of potting soil with peat and perlite or compost works well. • A slightly acidic to neutral pH (around 6.0–7.0) is ideal. 🌱 Fertilizing • Use a balanced, liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring to late summer). • Don’t fertilize during dormancy (fall/winter). 💤 Dormancy (Important!) • In cooler climates, caladiums go dormant in fall. The leaves will yellow and die back—this is normal. • When this happens: • Stop watering. • Dig up tubers if outside, clean and store them in a cool, dry place (around 55–65°F / 13–18°C). • Replant in spring after the last frost. 🪴 Potting Tips (If Indoors) • Choose a pot with drainage holes. • Repot annually in spring if needed. • Use gloves when handling—caladiums can cause skin irritation, and they’re toxic if ingested (keep away from pets and kids). #PlantLovers #PlantCollectors #PlantEnthusiast #BeginnerPlantParent #PlantAddict #PlantCommunity #houseplantcommunity #PlantObsession #Plantupdate #PlantGuide #PlantReel #PlantVlog #PlantStyling #PlantDecor #RareHouseplants #PlantGoal
