The Bashkir epic "Алпамыша" (Alpamysha) is a regional variant of the ancient Turkic dastan Alpamysh, which is central to the oral traditions of numerous Turkic peoples, including Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Altay, and Tatars. In Bashkir folklore, it recounts the heroic deeds of the warrior Alpamysha, focusing on themes of bravery, loyalty, and cultural identity. Scholars trace the epic's origins to the 6th–8th centuries in the Altai region during the Turkic Khaganate. By the 9th–10th centuries, it spread via Oghuz migrations, evolving into distinct regional versions like the Bashkir one.
