Using 4K video for Focus Stacking featuring the MIOPS Slider+

Conventionally focus stacking uses a series of still images captured at fixed increments between the front and back of the subject. By using the lens at its sharpest aperture and building up the final merged image you end up with an image which has maximum sharpness all the way from the front to the back of the image. Images requiring several centimetres of traverse can take 15 minutes or more to capture the whole series and usually the increments are made using a mechanical focus slide and altering the position for each step. Now if you use a motorised slider and capture 4K video (better if you have a camera with 6K) then the sequence is reduced to around 2 -3 seconds. In this period between 200 and 300 individual frames are capture. Just like the still images they can be imported into a focus stacking program to produce the final image. In this video I use the MIOPS SLIDER+ model to traverse the subject and capture a 4K video file using the Canon EOS M6 mk2 camera with an Artisans 60mm F2.8 macro lens.
