Enacted in 1977, it applies to US companies, citizens and their subsidiaries or associates anywhere in the World. The FCPA has two main provisions viz. Anti-bribery provision prohibiting bribes to foreign officials and Accounting provision requiring companies to maintain accurate records and internal controls. Violations can result in huge fines, penalties, and imprisonment. On similar lines, The UK Bribery Act 2010 is a law that prohibits bribery and corruption in the United Kingdom is considered one of the toughest anti-bribery laws in the world. The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (PCA) in India is a legislation aimed at preventing and punishing corruption in government agencies, public officials, and those involved in corrupt practices. It prohibits Bribery, Abuse of power, Fraud & Embezzlement. The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 introduced new offenses, such as bribery of foreign officials, corporate liability for corruption, protection for whistleblowers etc. These laws aim to promote ethical business practices, prevent corruption, and combat financial crimes.
