99 Maruti Zen LX Restoration - R12 to R134a AC retrofit

Hi everyone, In the next part of our ‘99 Zen LX’s restoration, here is the clip that shows the R12 to R134a AC retrofit done with the help of Subros’ service technician. Earlier cars came with R12 gas which is an ozone depleting refrigerant and was eventually phased out, replaced by R134a gas. To help existing owners switch to the R134a systems, Subros launched retrofit kits back then. But the stocks of these kits were exhausted and we had to rely on parts salvaged from the cars. This clip captures my experience of the switch from R12 to R134a system, Subros’ incredible customer support for a car that is over 23 years old and how an experienced technician did the job in a few hours’ time. When the chilled air blew out of the vents after a really long gap, it brought back the memories of our first air-conditioned car! :’) Cheers and thanks for watching!
