The most recent rain storm we had delivered a little over 3" of rain in just a few hours. Just about everything everywhere was flooded, sidewalks got torn up, holes formed in roads, yards turned into ponds, basements and garages everywhere were wet. Around 0300 hours, the water table in my yard rose above the basement slab and started pushing water through a crack. The water ran across the basement floor into the hole with the sump pump in it. The garage's sump pit filled for the first time I've ever seen and spilled over onto the garage floor. Once the sump pit in the garage was drained, the pressure dropped from under the basement and water stopped coming in. In the video I stated I wasn't going to be able to fix this, but after further investigation, I think I can fix it. It may be as simple as needing to install a sump pump into the garage, and perhaps drilling a few holes into the pit that's already existing in the basement. It may also be many years before this happens again, this was an exceptional storm; it's rare a storm like this passes through this area and dumps this much water at once.
