An outdoorsman's day off in the city

I found myself in New Orleans with a day off. I laced up to hit town, but in reality there was only one direction I was heading, and it was towards the river. For as long as I can remember, the Mississippi has been a place and a thing I’ve wanted to experience. A river I’d like to paddle and row, fish from, swim and sail. Instead, when I found a river bend I could actually walk all the way to the waters edge- as most of it is fenced off, guarded, owned or behind walls. Forever inspired by Huckleberry Finn and his riverside antics, I decided to make a fort.
