Earth Mutant Murray asked me if I'd be interested in submitting a 5min piece to his Earth Mutant show on October 19, 2024. It was an instant-yes from me. I sat at my sound table for days. I ripped patches apart, frustrated and starting from scratch every time. There were some good bits of recordings, but nothing solid all the way through. I thought that, maybe, I could salvage the good parts and put them into a longer recording. I noticed a folder on my recorder that I hadn't opened in a while and found recordings I'd made as far back as 2021! While listening back to and archiving these recordings, I found a beautiful new-agey drone and another throbby bassline that feels more like the body fighting an embolism. I'd recorded somebody talking on French radio into the Morphagene and patched envelope followers coming out of whatever modules were spitting them out and turned the speech into robotic gobbledy-gook. The pulseclick does change speeds and, no, you're not going crazy. Coming up with visual accompaniment also had a lot of false starts. I went down the rabbithole to try and find something weird that I could chop into...something weirder. I ended up going back into my archives and finding something I'd used before and applied layer on layer on effect. And it's just soap!
