We will be given a real world situation and asked to identify to equivalent expressions that represent the real world situation. We will first interpret the information provided in words and then rewrite using algebraic terms. We will understand that less means to subtract from in math. We will also review how to write 30 percent of a value as a variable term. We will identify a correct expression and eliminate choices that do not represent less than. We will then review how to combine like terms to identify the second correct expression. We will review and understand that 30% less is equivalent to 70% of a value.
