Members of Parliament, fresh from a month long recess, have punched holes into a report of the Select Committee that has been investigating delays in the payment of civil servants' salaries. The committee chaired by Igara East MP Raphael Magyezi recommended the disbandment of the Public Service Ministry, creating a Directorate under the office of the President and dismissal of Public service officials who create ghost staff. But many MPs did not agree with the committee. The lawmakers instead wanted the committee to investigate individuals who create ghost workers, name and shame them so that they can be prosecuted. The Leader of the Opposition and the Public Service minister will react to the report tomorrow after which parliament will amend the recommendations and take a decision.
