Gliding Competition at Keevil - ISRGC 2018

The Inter-services Regional Gliding Competition from 4th to 12th August 2018 was held at RAF Keevil in Wiltshire. I spent a couple of days there for this video (5th and 6th). The first few days were during our summer heatwave after which the weather broke down and each day's task was shorter with the last two days' flight tasks not taking place at all. Flying was done from the longest runway 24 and I took these videos from around the airfield either at the far end of runway 24, abeam the takeoff area or under the undershoot area. Tasks wer flown north into Oxfordshire generally giving a 200 to 350 km distances. Glider tugs were mostly Shribes with a Piper Pawnee and a lycombing powered DHC-1 Chipmunk. The Sport class competition was won by Alan Tribe in an Army LS8 glider. The Club class competiton was won by Jonty Sharp in an Army Discus CS glider.
