The Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) announced the league’s inaugural draft will be held live on Wednesday, January 29 at 8 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for where to watch. The AUSL Inaugural Draft will allocate the player pool to the four teams: the Bandits, Blaze, Talons, and Volts. Featuring 2022 AU Pro Softball Champion Dejah Mulipola, 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Jessi Warren, Carley Hoover, and Montana Fouts, the player pool will continue to expand ahead of the draft with announcements of signings on www.theAUSL.com. The current player pool is available at theausl.com/news/2025-ausl-draft-declaration-tracker-complete-list-of-the-player-pool and will be updated leading up to the draft. The general manager and head coach will plan, strategize, and make the selections to build out their 16-player rosters. Each franchise will make 12 selections at the draft. The four remaining roster spots will be filled with a combination of free agents and the incoming class of the top NCAA talent who will finish their eligibility in May. Picks will be selected in a rotating draft order. To ensure parity, the first pick of each round will rotate amongst the four teams. For example, the first four rounds of picks will progress in the following order: Round 1: Team A, Team B, Team C, Team D Round 2: Team B, Team C, Team D, Team A Round 3: Team C, Team D, Team A, Team B, Round 4: Team D, Team A, Team B, Team C The draft order will be designated by lottery. The AUSL Inaugural Draft will be decentralized, a format used in the NFL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. The coaches and general managers will select from their own locations rather than traveling to a central location. As previously announced, the general managers and coaches are paired as follows: Bandits: Jenny Dalton-Hill and Stacey Nuveman-Deniz Blaze: Dana Sorensen and Alisa Goler Talons: Lisa Fernandez and Howard Dobson Volts: Cat Osterman and Kelly Kretschman Tune in at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on January 29 as the four teams for the inaugural AUSL season are selected. Launching in June 2025, the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is a professional women’s softball league featuring four teams playing a 24-game season in a traditional format.
