Today we decided to take you on a short drive through a typical Canadian town. 70 km from Toronto, Bowmanville ON is a town of approximately 40,000 people located in the Municipality of Clarington, Durham Region. Bowmanville was first incorporated as a town in 1858, but later incorporated with the neighbouring townships of Clarke and Darlington in 1974 forming the Town of Newcastle, which was renamed in 1994 to the Municipality of Clarington. Bowmanville is part of the Greater Toronto Area. Bowmanville is surrounded by rural areas on three sides, and Lake Ontario to the south. Farmland formerly covered central Bowmanville until the population increased, thus establishing a nascent downtown core by the early 19th century. There is a harbour to the south of Bowmanville in Port Darlington. Driving this Greater Toronto Area city streets is a pleasant experience. We entered the town via Bowmanville Avenue, took the main King Street east through Bowmanville historic downtown with its shops and cafes, turned south near Bowmanville cemetery and re-entered the town from the east side turning on Mearns avenue to explore its residential area. Taking Concession road to west direction brought us to the oldest part of the town. We drove Center, Temperance, and Scugog streets to get to the Industrial Park and Bowmanville Marina in Port Darlington. 0:00 Bowmanville Avenue 2:27 King Street 3:10 Historic Downtown Bowmanville 6:43 Bowmanville Cemetery 8:20 Fields west of Bowmanville 10:14 Near Bowmanville Zoo (now closed) 11:18 Mearns Avenue 12:25 Bowmanville North residential area 15:40 Old Bowmanville 21:22 Bowmanville South residential area 25:40 South Bowmanville Industrial Park, Harbour, and Marina 27:30 Port Darlington More Toronto and GTA photos in my Instagram: / natashakvitka Short videos I post to TikTok: / natashakvitka
