This video will be going over how I made a petrified wooden fossil paper weight. The item is made from a combination of natural wood that has undergone a process of permineralization, where minerals from the surrounding environment seep into the wood's cells, replacing the original organic material over time. The result is a hardened, stone-like structure that retains the wood's original texture and pattern, making each piece distinct. The petrified wood is then crafted into a paper weight, polished to highlight its natural beauty. Epoxy resin is then poured into a custom mold to make a transparent flat case. The mold was 3D printed out of TPU. Note TPU will bind to epoxy thus a low layer height and ironing is beneficial to make it easier to sperate. A shallow pour slow curing resin was used. Slow curing epoxy gives time to work out bubbles that rise the surface. To finish a top coat can be poured of more epoxy or it can be sanded and polished. materials: -Slow curing epoxy -wooden fossil software used: -Fusion 360 (CAD) -Cura (slicing) Time Stamps: 00:00 Intro 00:10 Finding Petrified Wood 00:39 Case Design 02:08 Epoxy Pour 03:33 Sanding&Finishing 05:12 End -Music by CreatorMix.com
