When she was trapped in the amulet, Elena felt a connection to the young wizard and felt hope to save her kingdom from Shuriki's tyranny for the first time in 41 years. Elena and Mateo both decide to wait until the other is ready for a romantic relationship. After much internal stuggle and talks with Zuzou about her first experience of romantic love, Elena decides she finally wants to ask Mateo to rule by her side. Carnaval seems like the perfect opportunity to get closer to hin, but Elena backs out at the last minute. After all the trouble and treats are over, the stars finally allign for them after her coronation.
