A sua exibição presencial já foi realizada em Cabo Verde e em Portugal no ano de 2025. Falado em Crioulo e em português e legendado em inglês, o documentário explora a história dos antigos moradores da Praia da Calheta Grande, localizada no sul da ilha de São Vicente, durante o período colonial, destacando um grupo de povoadores que migraram da ilha de Santo Antão para São Vicente devido às crises de fome e seca nas décadas anteriores e durante a década de 40. Os testemunhos dos antigos moradores proporcionam uma visão mais profunda sobre a sobrevivência em tempos difíceis, trazendo também memórias importantes sobre a antiga comunidade que aí habitou até à década de 80. O lançamento deste filme no Dia Internacional da Mulher é um gesto intencional — de visibilidade, escuta e continuidade. English Description This film was developed as a Master’s thesis project, defended in 2024, marking a journey of research, creation, and deep listening to the portrayed community. Its in-person screenings took place in Cabo Verde and Portugal in 2025. Spoken in Creole and subtitled in English, the documentary explores the history of the former residents of Praia da Calheta Grande, located in the south of São Vicente Island, during the colonial period. It highlights a group of settlers who migrated from Santo Antão Island to São Vicente due to the severe famine and drought crises in the preceding decades and throughout the 1940s. The testimonies of the former residents offer a deeper perspective on survival during difficult times, while preserving important memories of the community that lived there until the 1980s. Releasing this film on International Women’s Day is an intentional gesture — one of visibility, listening, and continuity.
