Corbett's Dam is an incredible space to watch the annual fish migration. People come every weekend from mid-August to early October to watch the 5,000 to 10,000 chinook and silvery coho salmon swim from Lake Ontario up the Ganaraska River that runs through Port Hope on their way to their home spawning grounds. Corbett's Dam, located at 4 McKibbon St, Port Hope, ON, is a great place for nature enthusiasts and anyone who wants to experience the power of life. During the salmon run season, visitors can witness the spectacle of salmon trying to get up the dam, a truly amazing and somewhat humbling experience. There are free parking spaces for about 20 vehicles, allowing easy access for tourists coming from Toronto or Montreal. Despite some peak times being crowded, visiting on a weekday often provides a quieter experience. The salmon migration takes place from September to October, with the fall being the most abundant and spectacular time to visit. Anglers gather along the entire length of the river, and some visitors have the chance to witness the Salmon run in just 30 minutes, making the watch worthwhile. Catching sight of the salmon lined up to jump into the other side of the dam is a unique and rather poignant experience. In addition to the dam, the surrounding area of Port Hope offers a picturesque setting with European-style buildings, making it an ideal destination for photography enthusiasts. @RVGTravelVlogs #corbett'sdam #corbett'sdamfishladder #porthope #ganaraskariver #salmonrun #salmonmigration #corbettdam #salmonfishing
