Poignant services were held nationwide on the anniversary of the end of the First World War, with a national silence observed at 11am to honour those who have died in military conflicts. Princess Kate attended the Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum this morning—her first time at the ceremony, which began at 10:45am. At the Cenotaph, a two-minute silence was observed and wreaths were laid by senior figures including Defence Secretary John Healey and Reform leader Nigel Farage. Residents of Broughton House Veterans’ Home in Manchester also marked the occasion, with interviews from Major Andy Dinning, 102-year-old Sgt Peter Belcher, and Dan Searson, formerly of the Royal Army Medical Corps, who led the service.
