“Landscape and Landmarks of Babi Yar as a Testament of Public Memory” with Sergiy I. Borysov, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biology, Member of Academic Affairs Faculty Council, Chair of Biosafety Committee, Advisor of Saint Leo Chapter of Beta Beta Beta Honor Society, Department of Mathematics & Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, Saint Leo University. Professor Borysov is a third-generation Holocaust Survivor. Professor Borysov is a native of Ukraine. He spent his childhood and youth in Kyiv region and Kyiv, displaying great interest in the history of his country. He seeks to understand history as a past reality rather than a polished textbook ideology. His own family's past was intertwined with a tragic history of Ukraine: his father barely survived Holodomor, mass starvation imposed by Stalin’s regime, and both of his grandfathers perished in WWII, one falling as a victim of Holocaust and the other as a prisoner of war. Sergiy Borysov earned two doctoral degrees, one from the National University of Kyiv, and the other from the University of South Florida. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at Saint Leo University. #babiyar #holocaust #holocaustsurvivor #holocaustsurvivors #holocaustmuseum #holocausteducation #holocausthistory #uniteagainsthate #floridaholocaustmuseum #holocaustmemorial #holocaustremembrance #holocaustvictims #history #historyfacts
