A man with a lengthy criminal history arrested on suspicion of shooting a stolen gun during a brawl outside of a downtown bar earlier this month is now being sought by law enforcement after he cut off his ankle monitor shortly after bonding out of jail, sources confirmed. Joseph Reynaldo Olivarri, 38, was arrested in the early hours of February 16 on charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm with a felony conviction, along with discharging a firearm in a municipality. According to a police report, officers were responding to reports of a fight outside a bar in the 800 block of North Alamo Street when officers began receiving reports of a shooting in the same area. Witnesses identified Olivarri to security and police on the scene as the shooter, according to the report. The officer wrote in his report that Olivarri had tried to get away from the scene but was detained by a security guard. Officers located a firearm in the passenger's side floorboard of a black Nissan Altima Olivarri had been seen inside and noted in the report the spent shell casings nearby matched the caliber of the weapon recovered. Police reports stated that a firearm had been reported stolen in a vehicle burglary on January 18. Records show Olivarri was released from jail on February 17 after posting bonds totaling $70,000; conditions of his release included GPS monitoring and full house arrest. On February 19, Olivarri cut off his ankle monitor and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. Olivarri, who sources allege has ties to the Mexican Mafia, remains wanted by law enforcement as of this publication. While Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales’ office does not set bonds for criminal defendants, and only recommends bond amounts, in this case, Gonzales said the magistrate judge who set Olivarri’s bond followed the recommendation of his office.
