On this epic journey for the green and gold jacket I find myself fishing my 4th and final stop of divisionals. Last stop Rust De Winter Dam. This is my last and final stop for the season of 2024 to 2025 divisionals and this stop will conclude the season to see how well I did over all. After a long drive on friday the whole club got together for our last captains meeting to clarify the rules for our two day event at rust de winter dam. All members get together and we have a nice celebration to congratulate all the angler who did well in the previous competition, this includes trophies, certificates and just fun between anglers in the club. A week before I join Marnus for a practice day on rust de winter to find some bass and also figure out which baits would work best to catch bass on our competition day. Practice went well and we where ready to catch ourselves some day on day one. Day one of competition day had arrived and we were greeted by a beautiful sun rise out at rust de winter dam. It was blast off and our game faces where on so we could catch our selves some bass. First spot of the morning on rust de winter dam was a point where I fished top water walking baits, underspin's and texas rigs to try and get those bass on the boat. This spot was not productive for me and I didn't get a single bite from a bass. Knowing spots around rust de winter where we had gotten bites on practice day was really beneficial because we just moved from spot to spot try and get those bass to bit. After a long time being on rust de winter dam I was rewarded with my first bass. This bass was tucked deep under a over hanging tree and the lure I could get under there was a wacky rig. This got the bass to bit and I had my first bass on the boat. Many hours went by and having no luck catching bass I finally caught my second bass for the day. Pity for me is that I had about ten minutes left of fishing for the day and I wasn't able to get my five bass for the day. Rust de winter dam had really been tough on me and I didn't place well on the first day. After a long talk with myself that evening, I was ready to catch bass the following day. Day two came quicker then I thought and we were on the water for our last day of competition fishing. being on rust de winter for about half an hour I was rewarded with my first bass which was a great feeling and this me confidence to get more. My second fish came shortly after that which got me two bass on the board. Fishing the same stretch of water from yesterday had paid of since I caught my third bass for the day, one more then I had the day before. This feeling of having one bass more then I had before gave me so much confidence that i went into the day catching many bass and filling up my quiet quickly. After the day on rust de winter had ended I felt good that I managed to get bag, this got me a 14th place finish which was much better then the day before. Rust de Winter Dam is a bass fishing venue which can be tough but it can also reward you on other days with better bass and many more bass. All my bass I caught this weekend where on drop shot and wacky rig. My two go too ways to catch numbers but also to catch quality bass. Wacky rig set up Reel: https://www.abugarcia.com/collections... Most important lesson I learnt is that you can't give up and If you want to be successful in bass fishing is that you should never give up. Bass fishing is sport where you loose more then you win and you are fighting natural elements that are not in your control. So keep fishing and never give up because you will catch them
