Shoutout to Flobots for giving us permission to record and release this cover of "Handle Bars" Here's the Story: We covered "Handlebars" by Flobots a few times live, and each time, we got very high praise for the cover from the crowd. So we thought... "Why not record it?" In November of 2024, we reached out to Flobots about recording the "Handlebars" cover and releasing it. Flobots management was quick to respond and asked if we could provide a demo of the cover. When we got that email, we all looked at each other and were excited that they ACTUALLY responded to us. We quickly recorded a demo in Roger's basement and shot it over to them. At first, we didn't hear much back and thought, "Oh no, they probably hated it." A Little time passed, and we got a response from them apologizing for not getting back as fast, as they were dealing with the fires in LA and mourning the passing of their touring bassist. Which... WOW! First off, they did not need to apologize for those things, and secondly, that apology, on top of them responding to us, really spoke volumes about how down-to-earth and awesome the Flobots are. In the SAME apology email, they said that they had all listened to the demo and that we had a "positive blessing from the band to move forward with it." So, we hit up our guy Kevin W. Gates at REACH Audio | www.reachaudio.com | based in Springfield, MO, and got to work. While recording the cover, we noticed that Barnato, a venue in Omaha, NE, was hosting a Flobots show. So, we reached out again, asking if we could get some pictures and honestly, it just felt right that we introduce ourselves in person if we were going to be releasing a cover of one of their biggest, if not the biggest, songs of theirs.
