Physics 10 - Chapter 4 Multiple Choice Timed Assessments Demos 1 (with ChatGPT) and 2 (w/o)

In this Physics 10 video, I demonstrate two versions of a Chapter 4 multiple-choice timed assessment focused on impulse and momentum. In Demo 1, I use ChatGPT as outside help to see how quickly and accurately AI can answer conceptual physics multiple-choice questions under a short time limit. In Demo 2, I take the same assessment on my own without AI and compare my performance in both speed and accuracy. This video also includes discussion of academic honesty, the limits of timed online quizzes in the AI era, and what it means for instructors to redesign assessments when generative AI can solve many conceptual questions very quickly. Physics topics in this assessment include momentum, impulse, conservation of momentum, collisions, recoil, Newton’s laws, net force as rate of change of momentum, and quick mental methods for answering conceptual multiple-choice questions under time pressure.
