NDC Drops Full 2026 Timetable: Membership Fees, Congress Date & Tough New Rules

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its full roadmap toward the 2026 internal elections at a press conference addressed by General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey. The party announced that registration of new members will take place from 10th February to 30th March, 2026, and will be done strictly at the branch level. The cost of acquiring a plastic membership card has been set at GHC50. Fifi Kwetey disclosed that the picking of branch nomination forms will run from 2nd to 16th May, 2026, while the validation of all branch executives is scheduled for 10th to 30th July, 2026. He further stated that nominations for constituency positions will open from 15th to 17th September, 2026, followed by the opening of nominations for national positions from 20th to 21st October, 2026. The main congress to elect national executives will be held on 19th December 2026. The NDC General Secretary also issued a strong warning against the transfer of membership numbers belonging to deceased members, stressing that such acts will attract severe sanctions. He added that government office holders who intend to contest for party positions must resign at least six months before doing so.
