In February 2026, the Middle East was thrown into a new and dangerous phase of conflict when the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military attack against Iran. In the opening days of the war, US and Israeli bombing raids seemed devastatingly effective. Much of Iran’s military infrastructure was damaged, key leaders, including the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, were eliminated, and US-Israeli forces achieved broad control over Iranian airspace. Yet despite these early successes, Iran quickly demonstrated that it still possessed powerful tools capable of shifting the course of the war. One is its ability to close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints. The other is its capacity to launch large numbers of inexpensive missiles and drones across the region. Together, these tactics have already disrupted global energy markets, shaken investor confidence in the Gulf economies, and forced the US to reconsider the enormous financial and political costs of a prolonged conflict. But Iran’s strategy carries a significant risk. While its moves may increase pressure on the United States in the short term and may allow it to survive this confrontation, they are also alienating regional actors whose neutrality or quiet support Tehran relied upon. By targeting infrastructure and economic centers across neighboring Gulf states, Iran risks pushing those countries toward even greater military cooperation with the US and Israel, potentially setting the stage for a far more decisive confrontation in the future, during which they coil drake up an active role. __________________ Consider supporting this channel on Patreon or by becoming a channel member: Patreon: / politicswithpaint Channel Membership: / @politicswithpaint __________________ #Iran #IranWar #IranUSWar
