The first snowfall changes everything. We head into the backcountry with shotguns in tow, carrying our essentials in a makeshift bindle and following a snow‑covered trail. Along the way we find strange, unidentified tracks, plenty of grouse sign stamped into the snow, and even spot a grouse (which we miss). Between laughs we brew some truly terrible pine needle tea, share lunch by the fire, and chalk it all up to a good day in the bush.
