Addressing VPP legislator Adelbert Nongrum’s comparison of the project to a "bridge with no river," the CM emphasized that the project was funded entirely by a German grant through the GIZ agency, rather than state funds, to promote sustainable urban mobility. While acknowledging the current lack of dedicated lanes on Shillong’s narrow roads, the government confirmed that 1,600 users have already participated and that all future roads in New Shillong will feature integrated cycling tracks.
