Save a thought for our British wildlife this New Year’s celebration!

We would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy New Year and to thank you all for your support in 2025. We don’t mean to be party poopers, but we do have one last request of the year: please consider wildlife this evening. Fireworks are hugely disruptive to wildlife. Research has found that as a result of fireworks disruption, there are over 1,000 times more birds in flight on New Year’s Eve than on other nights. The noise of some fireworks exceeds 170 decibels – more than a gunshot or a low-flying jet! This triggers stress responses in many different species, causing them to flee from the source. The risk of injury, road traffic collisions, and entanglement is high. You can help limit the impact on wildlife by: 🤫 If you do buy fireworks, only buy silent fireworks and set them off in an open area away from animal habitats. 🎆 Aim to attend public fireworks displays only. 🪵 Creating shelters by leaving log piles and leaves for small mammals to hide in. ⛔️ Reducing your speed on the road and being vigilant of distressed animals. We do want to wish you all a very happy New Year, but please be considerate of your wild neighbours ❤️
