This video is one of eight clips that form the digital exhibit The Crafts Guild of Manitoba: A History. The Manitoba Branch of the Canadian Handicrafts Guild, later to be called the Crafts Guild of Manitoba, was established in 1928. During the 69 years that the Crafts Guild of Manitoba was active, they had a tremendous influence on crafts and craftspeople in Manitoba. The history of the Crafts Guild of Manitoba is a fascinating and important part of Manitoba's cultural heritage. The Guild did various things, from teaching rural women and making items for the Red Cross during World War Two to forming a Guild Shop and being the first outlet for Inuit Carvings in Manitoba. Each of the eight video clips, curated by Marieke Gruwel, highlights a section from the rich history of the Guild by looking at the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library's permanent collection, oral history interview, and archival materials This exhibit was made possible thanks to the support of Heritage Grants Program, Province of Manitoba, Department of Culture, Heritage, and Tourism.
