Otii - Optimise IoT & Wearable Power Consumption

The Otii energy optimisation tool by the Swedish company Qoitech allows precise current- and energy consumption measurements of low-power devices like battery-powered wearables or IoT edge devices. Consisting of the Otii Arc power supply and current meter and computer data display and logging software, the tool set features up to 5 nA current resolution and a 4 kHz sample rate (250 us time resolution). With it the energy consumption of a load can be graphed with high precision. Besides current profiling a low-power device, the Otii can also profile and emulate batteries. In this video we give the Otii a try. using a BBC micro:bit board with a BME280 weather data sensor running Arduino-based MySensors IoT networking software. Starting with naive firmware we quickly obtain encouraging results. The battery live improves from about 12 hours to almost one month.
