Hidden deep in the bush above Glenbrook lies the remains of a railway that once defied the Blue Mountains. Long before modern tunnels and electric trains, the Lapstone Zig Zag was Australia’s first attempt at climbing the range — using a daring switchback system of three reversing platforms, a coal-choked tunnel, and even a private station built for a politician who wanted a train to stop at his front door. In this episode of Shadowed Secrets, I walk the entire length of the forgotten Lapstone Zig Zag: 🟡 From the Top Platform, where the climb began... 🟡 To Lucasville Station, a crumbling ghost of privilege... 🟡 Down to the Lower Platform and the dark, sealed tunnel that ended the line... 🟡 And a strange ruin hidden in the trees — still guarding its purpose. What was once cutting-edge engineering is now a ghost line. Forgotten by most. Buried by nature. But the stones still speak… if you know where to listen. 👻 Don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe to help bring more hidden places back into the light. 👇 Let me know in the comments: Would you ride this railway if it was restored? #LapstoneZigZag #GlenbrookNSW #BlueMountainsHistory #AbandonedPlaces #UrbanExploration #AustralianHistory #RailwayHistory #ForgottenPlaces #ExploringAustralia #GhostRailway #ShadowedSecrets #LostRailways #AbandonedRailway #HistoricPlaces #HiddenHistory #Railfan #TrainHistory #ZigZagRailway #MushroomTunnel #ExploringHistory #WhatHappenedHere #HistoryUncovered #LostAndForgotten #ExploringThePast #HiddenPlacesAustralia
