On30 Mini Layout - Revisited May 2013 - Spruce Coal & Timber RR

I had a chance to get the Mini/Micro Layout out onto my back deck for some natural light and natural backdrop photography. While I was at it, I captured some short video clips and put them together. For those unfamiliar with my layouts, this particular piece was built as an exhibition mini/micro layout to run my smaller steam and diesel locomotives and rolling stock on. The setting is my vision of the West Virginia mountain and the era, shall we say - is a "simpler time" in history. This small On30 gauge - 1:48th scale layout measures 24" x 42" and features all scratch built structures and hand laid track.. All turnouts are powered by tortoise switch machines and all structures have interior lighting (some exterior). There is a small pie shaped section that is attached to this rectangular layout for a transition to the main layout modules. The layout is DCC controlled and all of my locomotives have Soundtraxx Tsunami sound decoders, however for the sake of some deeper realism, I add real world sounds to the video to give it a sense of place.
