Join me on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation (OCIC), a facility dedicated to protecting and restoring populations of the Eastern Indigo Snake — North America’s largest native snake. This private visit, hosted for Merritt Island Wildlife Association members, gave us an inside look at how conservation partners are working together to ensure the survival of this threatened species. From outdoor enclosures designed for the snakes’ comfort, to the herpetology lab where researchers study amphibians, to the quarantine rooms where indigo eggs and hatchlings are carefully raised, this tour highlights the incredible work being done for wildlife. And yes, I even got the chance to hold one of these amazing snakes myself! If you’d like to support their mission, check out the Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation and the Merritt Island Wildlife Association. Thanks to everyone involved in making this tour possible. — This video contains music from Shutterstock, licensed by Splice video editing app.
