As research findings are disseminated more rapidly than ever, basic research becomes increasingly visible, but not always readily translatable for addressing real-world problems. In this online event, we explore translational research as a way to close the distance between entrepreneurship theory and practice. We will discuss how theoretically rigorous knowledge produced by basic research can be translated to make a meaningful impact on entrepreneurial practice, communities, and policy. Professor Pablo Munoz (Durham University; JBVI Editor-in-Chief) opens the session by introducing the foundations of translational research and outlining a research framework for entrepreneurship. By leveraging practices from biomedical science and design science, this translational framework lays the ground for a broader research ecosystem of entrepreneurship. The session will also features a presentation based on an exemplary translational research paper published in JBVI by Dr. Ferran Giones (University of Stuttgart).
