Telugu Language Day or Telugu bhāṣā dinōtsavaṁ or "Day of the Telugu Language" is observed on 29 August each year in the State of Andhra Pradesh of the Republic of India. This date was chosen to coincide with the birthday of the Telugu poet Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy. Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy (1863-1940) was a Telugu writer and one of the earliest modern Telugu linguists and social visionaries during the British rule. He championed the cause of using a language comprehensible to the common man (‘Vyavaharika Bhasha’) as opposed to the scholastic language (‘Grandhika Bhasha’). Speakers of Telugu refer to it as simply Telugu. Older forms of the name include Teluṅgu, Tenuṅgu and Teliṅga. Atharvana Acharya in the 13th century wrote a grammar of Telugu, calling it the Trilinga Śabdānusāsana (or Trilinga Grammar). Appa Kavi in the 17th century explicitly wrote that Telugu was derived from Trilinga.Telugu ranks fourth among the languages with the highest number of native speakers in India, with nearly 90 million speakers, and 15th in the Ethnologue list of languages by number of native speakers . #TeluguBhashaDinotsavam #SongOnTeluguLanguage #TeluguTraditions Lyrics: Dr. Kandikonda Singer: Sai Srikanth Music, Rhythm: SK Baji Key Board Programming: SK Baji and Nagur Sitar: Nandu Flute: Srinivas Chorus: Pavan & Rahul Coordination: Ashok Kumar & Tarakram Kumar Editing: Balanagedra Concept & Execution: Kotesh Kommanaboyina *************************************************************************************** *************************************************************************************** Traditions generally revolve around cultural practices and festivals of people of a particular geographical region. In India, we have multiple regional demarcations, but broadly we classify Telugu speaking populace as a set for the purpose of defining traditions. Traditions are something people follow as a given without ever examining their validity or usefulness; they just enjoy or at least gain satisfaction doing those rituals in the name of tradition on various occasions. TeluguTraditions.org strives to be a living encyclopedia of Telugu culture and traditions documenting the past & current traditions and by passing on the legacy to the future generations. ► Website: https://telugutraditions.org ► YouTube: / telugutraditions ► Facebook: / telugutraditions ► Twitter: / telugutradition ► Instagram: / telugutraditions *************************************************************************************** ***************************************************************************************
