The Farthest Mosque (Al-Masjid-ul-Aqs-a) was built many years after the death of Muhammad. In Yusuf Ali's commentary on Q17:1 we read: "The Farthest Mosque must refer to the site of the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem..." Yusuf Ali said that Al-Masjid-ul-Aqs-a was the second Temple of Solomon, but the temple had been completely destroyed in 70 AD, i.e. 550 years before the alleged time of the Miraj in 622 AD.
